About a year ago I bought a mix case from Lancaster Brewing company. The milk stout had this face puckering sourness to it. I have heard such good things from this company and I was really disappointed. I wanted to give the beer another try so I picked up a six pack a few months later and I had the same sourness.
Do you think it was just the same beers from the same bad batch?
I want to give this beer another try, but after 12 sour milk stouts I'm a little hesitant to try again.

It's not usually sour. You should email them and see if they'd hook you up with some more for free. They are good folks over there. I've met the head brewer a few times at events.

you might be better off visiting them sometime when your in Lancaster and trying a fresh draft. That way, if you still taste the sourness, it's definitely not the beer for you, and you haven't wasted another six pack. And you can talk to the bar tender about your disappointment and probably get a few free rounds or a free growler of something else...

See Matt's answer and you'll know my opinion.

I've never found this beer to be sour at all. Definitely follow the advice in this thread, or go and see if you can find a place that sells singles so you can try one more.
Lancaster Milk Stout is actually one of my favorite beers so I'm hoping that you just got two bad batches.

The overwhelming support of the Milk Stout has convinced me to try again. The next time I see a single or six pack I'm going to pick some up. I'll report back and let everyone know if my opinion has changed.
