Appreciate the deliciousness that is this beer. I don't know if it's the fact that it was the first Troegs beer I ever tried, but it's probably my favorite from the brewery (just a notch above Nugget Nectar).
I can't wait to be able to have it again. I will definitely be picking up a case as soon as it becomes available. I bought a Mad Elf chalice that I have yet to use and am waiting to until I can be sipping this brew from it.

I think the hype hurt it for me. I liked but didn't love it. Maybe this Christmas season is the one where I'll give it another whirl.

You should. I found that it's a brew that takes a bit of getting used to, but once you're accustomed you can't get enough of it. That's what happened to me, at least. I crave Mad Elf always ;D.

Would you consider this more of a Spiced Christmas beer or a BSDA like BeerAdvocate categories it? I've had so many bad "Spiced Christmas" beers that I've always avoided this one. I always see a bottle or two at Blue Dog (local bar/bottle shop) in the winter so maybe this year I'll pick one up.

I'm not the best person to answer your question because I'm fairly new to beer, but if I had to answer I'd say it probably leans more toward a "spiced Christmas" beer--don't let that turn you off though, it's a great brew. Definitely give it a try this winter!
