It looks like this year Sierra Nevada is replacing their seasonal Anniversary Ale (IPA) with an "Autumn Brown Ale". I have always been a big fan of brown ales, so when this one comes around I'll be sure to pick up a six pack. Sierra Nevada Tumbler to replace Anniversary Ale this yearbeernews.org/2010/05/sierra-nevada-tumbler-to-replace-anniversary-ale-this-year/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+beerpulse+%28Beernews.org+%BB+The+Craft+Beer+News+Leader%29...[W]e wanted a beer that was more appropriate for the fall season. Something that suggested the rich and roasty flavors that we come to associate with cooler temperatures. Tumbler is made with fresh roasted malt straight from the roasting kilns and into the brewery. We have an agreement with our maltsters to deliver our malt within days of cooling for a much more pronounced roasted-grain flavor to the beer. Think of coffee…coffee fresh out of a roaster, tastes much different from coffee that’s been sitting on the shelf for weeks. The same principals apply to malt. These grains have a similar caramelization and volatile aroma profile, and we want to harness it as quickly as possible.

Agreed, Brown over IPA. Is it a seasonal for the fall, so is out yet?

As an autumn seasonal it will probably start showing up sometime this summer (the beer seasons always seem a little early), but I can't confirm that.

Got a six pack from the new Wegman's in Malvern a couple weeks ago (along with a sixer of Blind Faith). Very solid brown ale. Once I finish of the six pack I'll consider a case.

Not at all. More malty than anything. Was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't hoppy.

I have two bottles of this from a case swap, and I'm really looking forward to trying it out. Probably sometime this weekend.

Having one right now. Just noticing a heavy smokiness to it. Pretty impressive with the layers of flavors in this guy.
